Having a great warmup pack is essential, whether you’re playing with a full group or just practicing at home.
Warmup Pack A is a collection of exercises compiled by our Education Team to help train the basic motions required for much of the repertoire performed by the modern marching percussionist. These are:
- Full Strokes
- Down/Up and Tap Stroke
- Diddles
No matter what instrument you play, this pack is incredibly useful for all members of the drumline and every member should practice the Snare parts to hone their chops and timing (yes, even you cymbals!)
The exercises contained in this packet will remain invaluable throughout your drumming career. As you develop you technique and control you can just keep pushing the tempo with these basic exercises to challenge your chops.
One you have mastered this pack – we use the word “mastered” very cautiously – you can check out Warmup Pack B which focuses on rhythm and timing, and Warmup Pack C which focuses on advanced rudiments and hybrids.
