For our current Lead Snare, Charlotte Thompson, a recent trip to Auckland, New Zealand, turned into a milestone moment: performing with NZ Drumline as part of the massive Synthony show.
After some last‑minute personnel changes, NZ Drumline needed another drummer to lock in the line. We’ve worked with the NZ crew in a few different capacities over the years, so they knew D² were the right people to call, and Charlotte stepped up immediately.
She learned the book in Melbourne, flew over, had one dress rehearsal with the team, and then hit the stage for show time. That kind of preparation, calmness under pressure, and professionalism is exactly what you want from a lead player.
Synthony is a large‑scale live music experience that collides iconic electronic dance anthems with a full orchestra, DJs, vocalists, and immersive visuals, playing to huge crowds across New Zealand and around the world. It’s high‑energy, big‑production, and the perfect setting for live drumline power on top of already massive tracks.
Charlotte absolutely smashed the gig. From her first National Drumline Camp back in 2016 to leading the line and playing international shows on stages like this, it’s been an incredible journey – congratulation Charlotte!
