Description
Practice tips:
- Start with bass drums playing the same part as snares to get their hands going before adding in the splits (can also be applied to quads if arounds prove challenging).
- Focus playing nice consistent doubles that sit accurately with the singles – an even sound is the key goal here.
- Note the dynamic contrast between the non-accent vs accented passages in the Chino Hills video below. Nail this, but remember to play big, not hard!
- Any bass parts written as diddles should be played as double strokes. Any parts written as 16th notes should be played as singles.
- Be careful not to overplay in the bass unisons, especially the clicks in bars 24 + 35.
- Start slow, and HAVE FUN!
